This document contains installation and activation instructions for both the Windows® and Macintosh platforms.
Make sure that your computer meets the system requirements for Adobe Photoshop CS2. System requirements are listed on the Adobe website at www.adobe.com/products/photoshop/systemreqs.html.
If you purchased Photoshop from the Adobe website, you need to locate the Photoshop CS2 folder on your computer to install the software.
After you install Photoshop, please refer to the Photoshop Read Me file in the Adobe Photoshop CS2 folder on your hard drive. The Photoshop Read Me file contains last-minute information that you may want to print and keep with your documentation for future reference.
Activation is a simple process you must complete within 30 days of installing the software. Activation allows you to continue using the software, and it helps to prevent casual copying of the software onto more computers than the license agreement allows. Instructions to activate Photoshop are provided in this document. For more information about activation, visit the Adobe website at www.adobe.com/activation.
Complete the following procedure to install Photoshop from the Adobe Photoshop CS2 CD. You cannot run Photoshop from the CD; you must install the program files onto your hard disk.
Upgrading If you're upgrading from a previous version of Photoshop, the installer creates a new folder for the Photoshop CS2 files. Files from the previous version aren't affected. Files used by multiple Adobe applications may be updated with newer versions.
1 -- Log into the computer as a user with administrative rights. If you don't have administrative rights, see the person who administers the computer.
2 -- Close any Adobe applications that are open and disable any antivirus software.
· Insert the Photoshop application CD into your CD-ROM drive. After the Autoplay dialog box appears, select and language and then click OK.
· If you downloaded Photoshop from the Adobe website, locate the Adobe Photoshop CS2 folder, and double-click the Setup.exe file within it.
4 -- Read the license agreement and click Accept to continue.
5 -- In the Welcome screen, click Install Photoshop CS2.
6 -- Follow the on-screen instructions, and when prompted for a serial number, do one of the following:
· If you're installing the software from a CD, type the serial number exactly as it appears on the outside of the CD case.
· If you downloaded the software from the Adobe website, type the serial number exactly as it appears on your receipt page and in the e-mail you received confirming your purchase.
Note: If you're installing an upgrade, type the serial number included with Photoshop CS2. The installer will then search for the previous version on your computer. If it doesn't find the previous version, it will prompt you to either insert the CD from the previous version or verify the location it's installed.
7 -- Continue to follow the on-screen instructions, and when you receive a message stating that the installation was successful, click Finish.
You may be prompted to activate your copy of Photoshop. See See Activating Photoshop.
1 -- Close any Adobe applications that are open.
· Insert the Photoshop CD into your CD-ROM drive. On the desktop, double-click Adobe Photoshop CS2 CD, and then double-click the Install Adobe Photoshop CS2 icon.
· If you downloaded the software from the Adobe website, open the Adobe Photoshop CS2 folder, and double-click Adobe Photoshop CS2.mpkg icon.
3 -- Follow the on-screen instructions.
4 -- In the Authenticate dialog box, type the name and password for an administrator account, and then click OK. If you don't know the name and password, see the person who administers the computer.

· If you're installing the software from a CD, type the serial number exactly as it appears on the outside of the CD case.
· If you downloaded the software from the Adobe website, type the serial number exactly as it appears on your receipt page and in the e-mail you received confirming your purchase.
Note: If you're upgrading from a previous version, type the upgrade serial number included with Photoshop CS2. The installer will then search for the previous version on your computer. If it doesn't find the previous version, it will prompt you to enter the serial number of the previous version.
6 -- Continue to follow the on-screen instructions, and when you receive a message stating that the installation was successful, click Finish.
